= City Commission = The City Commission is the legislative and policy-making body of the City of Great Falls. It is composed of a '''Mayor''', elected for a two-year term, and '''four Commissioners''' serving overlapping four-year terms. All five are elected at large on a non-partisan basis. Municipal elections are held in odd-numbered years. See [[CityElections]]. The Commission does not run the City day to day. Under the [[FormOfGovernment]] established by the 1986 charter, it employs a [[CityManager]] to direct operations and carry out its policies. = Members = * '''Cory Reeves''', Mayor. Retired engineer Susan Wolff served through 2025; Commissioner Schreiner was welcomed as newly elected at [[CityCommission2026-01-06]]. = What it does = * Adopts ordinances, which amend the [[OfficialCode]], and resolutions, which are single acts * Adopts the annual budget and sets the [[AnnualTaxLevy]] — see [[CityBudget]] * Holds public hearings on land use, fees, assessments and nuisance abatement * Appoints members to the [[BoardsAndCommissions]] and confirms the appointment of municipal judges * Approves contracts, change orders and final payments above the manager's authority = How a meeting runs = A regular meeting works through a fixed order: military updates, petitions and communications, neighborhood councils, boards and commissions, city manager, consent agenda, public hearings, old business, new business, and finally commission reports and initiatives.
