The Great Falls EMS Advisory Board exists, in the City's words, to preserve and improve the quality of life for the community by ensuring a safe and stable pre-hospital emergency medical care system, and to ensure that system is reliable, cost-efficient and staffed by highly trained personnel. It advises the EMS administration on all matters relating to the City's EMS system.
Created by Ordinance 2993, adopted by the CityCommission on January 8, 2008, and amended by Ordinance 3181 on June 19, 2018.
Membership is by role rather than by open appointment: the FireRescue Fire Chief as City EMS Administrator, the EMS system medical director, the GFFR assistant chief and EMS coordinator, the Great Falls Emergency Services manager, the 911 dispatch centre, the community risk reduction manager, a GFFR paramedic, a NeighborhoodCouncils representative and a GFES paramedic, with ex officio members from Mercy Flight, Benefis and Great Falls Emergency Services. Terms are indefinite until a member vacates or resigns.
Meets at the FireTrainingCenter, 1900 9th Street South. Under OCCGF 8.5.080 the board must meet at least four times a year to address issues affecting the EMS system and to ensure the system's performance is safe, stable and effective.
