The steering committee for the update of the City's growth policy, the work that became FutureGreatFalls2045.
The committee posts its own agenda series in the City's Agenda Center. Its meetings run alongside the PlanningAdvisoryBoard process and the CityCommission work sessions that carried growth policy updates — SpecialWorkSession2026-01-06, WorkSession2026-04-07 and the Commissioners' working session on SpecialWorkSession2026-05-19.
The update was driven by the MontanaLandUsePlanningAct, which changed what a Montana growth policy is: no longer a broad vision document but an implementation-focused plan that carries weight in later land use decisions. That raised the stakes on the public process, and the plan was built around surveys, workshops, stakeholder meetings, mapping exercises, comment periods, draft review and presentations across the community.
A separate Land Use Public Participation Plan was adopted by Resolution 10629, and the growth policy itself by Resolution 10631, both at CityCommission2026-06-16.
The committee's work is largely complete with the adoption of the plan; implementation moves to PlanningAndCommunityDevelopment and the code amendments that follow.
