A proposed advanced manufacturing campus at 1900 18th Avenue North, in the American Agri-Technology Addition — see AgriTechPark.
Planning Director Brock Cherry told the CityCommission that Janicki Industries was evaluating Great Falls as one of two possible locations. If selected, the completed campus would be approximately 1.5 million square feet, supporting composite and metal tooling, parts manufacturing, training, business relations, engineering, design, employee campus housing and related operations. The applicant estimated total investment of approximately $830 million and the potential for more than 1,000 jobs paying above Montana's average annual wage.
Resolution 10623, a New or Expanding Industry Tax Benefit, was heard at the special meeting SpecialCityCommission2026-05-12 and carried 4-0 on two motions. It had been set for hearing at CityCommission2026-04-21.
Staff were careful about the word abatement. The City writes no cheque and gives no land. Under Montana law, qualifying new industrial improvements are taxed at 50% of taxable value for the first five years after construction commences, then the taxable percentage rises each year until reaching 100% in year ten. Because the project is phased, that timing applies to each approved phase. At the FY2027 budget hearing the Great Falls Development Alliance described the same schedule in support of the City's approach.
The CityManager reported at CityCommission2026-06-16 on a delegation of Great Falls community leaders visiting Janicki's facilities in Washington, including representatives of the City, CascadeCounty, the Great Falls Development Alliance, Great Falls College MSU, the school district and the State.
