Malmstrom Air Force Base

Malmstrom Air Force Base, MAFB, sits on the east side of Great Falls and is the largest single influence on the city's economy and its civic calendar. The Montana Air National Guard, MANG, is also based here.

In the Commission record

Regular City Commission meetings open with a standing military updates item. MAFB and MANG alternate giving it, and the CityCommission minutes carry the reports in full. Subjects across 2025 and 2026 include command changes at Air Force Global Strike Command and U.S. Strategic Command, base closures for federal holidays, distinguished visitor tours, awards to base personnel, and the schedule of Sentinel town hall meetings as the ICBM modernisation programme proceeds.
