= Municipal election, November 2025 = The Great Falls general election of November 4, 2025 was scheduled to decide one ballot issue, one MunicipalCourt judge for Department B, the Mayor, two City Commissioners, and five positions in each of the nine NeighborhoodCouncils districts. = The cancellation = CascadeCountyElections Administrator Terry Thompson reported to the CityCommission that under MCA 13-1-403, where the number of candidates filing equals or is fewer than the positions to be filled, she must notify the governing body that the election is unnecessary and the body may cancel it by resolution. She notified the City on September 12, 2025 that no declared write-in filings had been received by the August 6, 2025 deadline, and that the races for Neighborhood Council Nos. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 were eligible for cancellation — eight of the nine. Resolution 10607, cancelling the November 4, 2025 general election of certain municipal officers, was adopted at CityCommission2025-09-16. It carried 3-2, with Mayor Reeves and Commissioner Wilson dissenting. Candidates in the cancelled races were elected by acclamation following the general election. = What was decided = The contested part of the ballot went ahead, including the fireworks question — see FireworksReferendum2025 — which passed, and the Commission seats. Commissioner Casey Schreiner was welcomed as newly elected at CityCommission2026-01-06. ---- Minutes, September 16, 2025: https://greatfallsmt.gov/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Minutes/_09162025-242 Previous municipal election results: https://www.cascadecountymt.gov/688/Previous-Municipal-Elections-Results CityElections · NeighborhoodCouncils · Categories
