Regional Airport Authority Board

The governing body and policy-setting board for the Great Falls International Airport. It employs the Airport Director, who hires staff and oversees day-to-day operations.

Created by Joint Resolution 7451 of the City and 80-1 of the County, establishing the Regional Airport Authority under MCA 67-11-103.

Membership — seven members: four appointed by the CityCommission and three by the CascadeCountyCommission. Three-year terms. No residency requirement is stipulated, though the City Commission prefers city residents for its appointees.

Meets the last Tuesday of each month at 1:00 pm in the Plateau Room on the second floor of the airport terminal building.

In the record

The Commission interviewed candidates at a special work session on SpecialWorkSession2026-01-06 and made appointments at CityCommission2026-01-06, 5-0. The Authority posts its own agendas and minutes in the City's Agenda Center, and holds occasional work sessions.

The airport also carries a TaxIncrementFinancing industrial district; Resolution 10601, allowing up to $300,000 of Great Falls International Airport TIF industrial district funds for infrastructure, was adopted at CityCommission2025-10-07.
