The Conservation District Board of Supervisors for CascadeCounty, established under MCA Title 76 Chapter 15. Conservation districts work locally to carry out the state's policy of conserving soil, water and other natural resources.
The High Plains Conservation District — formerly the Cascade Conservation District — covers all of the county except the original 1947 city limits of Great Falls, Belt and Cascade. Its supervisors attend SB 310 permit inspections, meetings and workshops.
Membership — seven members: five ellected at large at the general election and two appointed residents of municipalities within the district, under MCA 76-15-301 and 76-15-305. Four-year terms for elected supervisors, three-year for appointed. Appointed supervisors must be residents of municipalities within the district under MCA 76-15-311(a).
The CityCommission makes one of the appointments. A reappointment was made at CityCommission2025-10-21, 5-0, recorded in the minutes under the district's new name with the former name noted.
