City assessments

Beyond the general property tax levy, Great Falls property owners pay assessments to a set of districts, each levied by its own resolution of the CityCommission after a public hearing, usually at the second meeting in August.

The districts

StreetMaintenanceDistrict — Resolution 10591 for FY2026, 10644 for FY2027
ParkDistrictNumberOne, the park maintenance district — 10586, then 10641
General Boulevard District No. 3570 — 10585, then 10640. The FY2027 levy carried 3-1 with Commissioner Tryon dissenting
Special improvement lighting districts — 10587, then 10642
Portage Meadows Maintenance District No. 1195 — 10588, then 10643, both referencing Resolution 6913

Assessed separately in September: the BusinessImprovementDistrict (Resolution 10583) and the TourismBusinessImprovementDistrict (10584).

Special Improvement Districts, SIDs, are a different instrument: a district formed to fund a specific improvement, with a payoff information request process run by the FinanceDepartment. The City took a special improvement district policy update as a separate work item.
