The City's emergency management function covers preparedness planning, warning systems, and coordination with partner agencies — CascadeCounty, the state, MalmstromAirForceBase and the Montana Air National Guard among them. The City publishes preparedness guidance for home and workplace and operates public warning systems.
The 2024-2029 Central Montana Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan was adopted by Resolution 10571 at CityCommission2025-03-04, having been presented at the work session earlier that day. The plan is the document that keeps the City and County eligible for federal hazard mitigation assistance.
A Malmstrom Air Force Base Installation Resilience Study professional services agreement was approved at CityCommission2025-02-04, and a resilience and compatibility study for the MAFB MIRR project was presented at WorkSession2026-01-20.
The EmsAdvisoryBoard covers the emergency medical side, and an interlocal agreement with Cascade County for emergency fire and medical services was ratified at CityCommission2025-10-21.
